Year of New Beer: Quadrotriticale, Stone Brewing (CA)

Dark fruits, damp earth, and peppery spice on the nose. On the tongue is an initially off-putting metallic flavor that thankfully fades with warmth. The dark fruits develop more fully with warmth as well, joined by some apple skin bitterness, while the triticale grain adds an interesting rye-like spice that is unusual, but not unpleasant. Overall, a very different beer that grew on me through the glass. Certainly not the best Belgian quad, but one I'm glad I tried.
