2013 Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Biscotti Break, Evil Twin Brewing (Denmark). How do you make one of my favorite beers from 2013 even better? You age it in bourbon barrels, of course. The only way to convey the aroma of this beer is to think liquid bourbon ball. The chocolate is rich, decadent even, as the bourbon builds with warmth. On the tongue, the layers of flavor are silky smooth, with a creaminess that can't be adequately described. Sweet chocolate, roasted coffee bean, and bourbon soaked oak dance across the taste buds as traces of vanilla and an earthy hop bitterness provide elements of balance to the intricate display. Luscious. That's a good word for it. After sitting in my cellar for nearly a year, I'd say it was well worth the wait.
