Year of New Beer: Kings Mountain, Heritage Brewing (VA)

The nose starts off with some raisins and apple butter, with traces of leather and cured tobacco. With warmth, a bit of spice seems to come forth. On the tongue is a dessert bread sweetness, with toffee and brown sugar winning out over an earthy hop bitterness. Slightly woody with dark and cooked fruits still present. Overall a touch too sweet to elevate from good to great.
