Year of New Beer: Contemporary Works Mono, Stillwater Artisanal Ales (MD)

The nose is filled with the sweet, bready grains one expects in a lager, but is backed nicely by some tart fruits and cut grasses. On the tongue is again the lighter, sweet malt with an almost cracker-like feel, followed by a building hop bitterness that takes on first notes of citrus, then sharper, grassy elements. Maybe even a touch peppery. I typically keep walking when the label says pilsner, but I'm glad I gave this one a try, as it is a really nice beer.
