Year of New Beer: Wiseblood, 3 Floyds Brewing (IN)

Smoky, charred malts, cocoa powder, and traces of fennel lead the nose. With warmth, a bit of baked apple seems to appear. On the tongue, nearly burnt toast and sugar join a slightly acrid coffee and black licorice, with an evident woody note on the bitter finish. Very unusual for the style but pretty tasty to me.
