Year of New Beer: 2010 Double Bastard Ale, Stone Brewing (CA)

After a review of my notes, I realized I had never tasted this beer before. Most of the hop-centric beers from Stone are not recommended for aging, but this one listed cellaring notes, so for some odd reason, I put two bottles away some 3 years ago. Glad I did. Nose boasts ridiculous toffee and caramel. On the tongue, the sweetness is the first thing to get your attention, but amazingly, the hops stand up respectably. Bitter and bruising through the mid-palate, with a strong alcohol burn on the finish. This is not a beer for the faint of heart. Got one more bottle--anybody want to share?
