Year of New Beer: Pirate Bomb, Prairie Artisan Ales (OK)

Another beer that I'm a little slow in getting around to, but my patience is rewarded. A decadent nose features a fudge brownie-like chocolate note, with brown sugar, roasted nuts, charred wood, and hints of spicy rum. These elements reach the tongue in waves, layered with oak, dark fruits, and subdued levels of the peppers used in the brewing. The alcohol is remarkably well-hidden in this silky-smooth brew. I love the balance here, and this may be my favorite Bomb variant that I've tried. I have a hunch as to which friend scored me this bottle, but I can't be 100% sure.
