Year of New Beer: Devil's Milk, DuClaw Brewing (MD)

Got some sense of smell back tonight, and this one checks in with caramel, candied orange, and warms to some pine. On the tongue, brown sugar and hints of butterscotch are countered by citrus pith, evergreen, and traces of peppery spice. Dry and bitter on the finish with a moderate alcohol heat. This is a little rough around the edges, but overall not a bad beer from a brewery that seldom hits for me.
