Year of New Beer: Pineapple Fields, Stillwater Artisanal Ales (MD)

Light pine and a building sage sit atop an almost briny layer that's accented by lemon and traces of pineapple. On the tongue, brettanomyces funk leads the way, as tart citrus provides a sturdy pucker. Lemon is still present, as is some Granny Smith apple, with a faint pineapple that just doesn't seem to get to the level I want. The sage, however, is plentiful, but seems to work well in this beer. Citrus pith and some field grass provides an enduring bitterness through a moderately dry finish. Pretty unusual, but I really liked it.
