Year of New Beer: 9 Ladies Dancing, The Bruery (CA)

This year's addition to the 12 year series brings a tiramisu inspired brew that features a light coffee and cocoa powder on the nose, with very faint vanilla arriving with warmth. On the tongue, nothing about this really says tiramisu to me. The flavors are pretty muddled, somewhat muted in their presentation. I was expecting the coffee and lactose sweetness to carry the layers of chocolate and vanilla, but instead the coffee comes off as overly bitter, and an odd, almost tart flavor seems to permeate the glass. The Bruery has had plenty of issues with infection, and I don't necessarily think this one is there, but it's hard to shake the power of suggestion. Very disappointing beer when compared to its predecessors.
