Year of New Beer: Death Hoppy Black Ale, Shmaltz Brewing (NY)

Rich and robust on the nose as smoky malts are joined by hints of grapefruit and pine. On the tongue, a charred bread crust makes a nice base for a building hop bitterness that walks the line between earthy evergreen and citrus peel. Hints of bitter chocolate and wood on the finish. If you like hoppy black ales (which I do) this is worth a shot.
