Year of New Beer: Attempted Redrum, New England Brewing (CT)

Big caramel notes lead the nose, with dark fruits, woody spice, and hints of tobacco and leather rising up as well. On the tongue, this is big and boozy, with brown sugar and toffee being tempered by an earthy hop presence that is surprisingly strong for a 2014 vintage. Hints of vanilla blend nicely with a restrained but still noticeable rum spice. Even with the alcohol punch, this drinks easier than expected. Very enjoyable beer.
