Year of New Beer: Red Handed, Bearded Iris Brewing (Nashville)

Just shy of 2 weeks old, this beer hits the glass bursting with a dankness and pithy citrus peel, conjuring up images of pulpy fruit juices. Traces of pine and sweeter tropical fruits linger in the background. On the tongue, this is a hop lover's dream, biting with grapefruit and orange rind that wavers very little. The aforementioned sweeter fruits, mango and guava primarily, provide a bit of balance before a resinous pine and dank herb return to strafe the taste buds with bitterness. The alcohol is virtually undetectable, making this entirely too easy to drink. So good, and a worthy adversary to the ridiculously hyped New England IPAs.
