Year of New Beer: Girardin Gueuze 1882 (Black Label), Brouwerij Girardin (Belgium)

Acidic fruits on the nose, with a steadfast lemon, as well as a crabapple that gets softer and sweeter with warmth. Hints of oak, musty air, and a faint chalk linger in the background. Biting on the tongue as sharp fruit juices pucker the mouth, working alongside a white wine vinegar-like punch. Yeasty, earthy mineral notes hold on through the finish, with a persistent sour refusing to release its grip on the taste buds. Excellent.
