Year of New Beer: Rye Barrel Chocolate Porter, Central Waters Brewing (WI)

Some beers leave nothing to the imagination once you get that first wave on the nose. Sweet chocolate, light coffee, and an alcohol note that comes to the nose as much more bourbon than rye spice. On the tongue is a beautiful blend of dark fruits wrapped in chocolate, which are then layered over oaky caramel and vanilla. Slightly charred malts add a touch of complexity.only with warmth does a faint rye spice step in. I'm not a fan of porters in general, but this is absolutely stellar.
