Year of New Beer: Catalina Breeze, Mile Wide Beer Company (Louisville)

As a good number of us beer nerds lose our collective minds over the hazy, New England IPAs, it's easy to overlook more traditional IPAs. This is one that does everything right. Solid citrus with hints of melon on the nose, turning just a bit grassy with warmth. These elements transition nicely to the tongue, backed by a slightly sweet malt. Citrus pith turns a bit towards pine through the glass. The hops are very balanced, with the bitterness being restrained, drying on the finish. Super easy drinking, excellent beer
