Year of New Beer: Barrel Aged G & T Gose, Anderson Valley Brewing (CA)

Sharp lemon, lime, and sour apple greet the nose, tinged with a moderate brine and faint bourbon. With warmth, a pretty solid dose of juniper joins an increasingly woody note. On the tongue, an acidic bite hits as the lemon-lime is showcased initially, followed by a salty mid-palate. Juniper and subtle bourbon settle in against a tartness that intensifies as the bottle nears its end. I was expecting this to be a total trainwreck, but actually came away pleasantly surprised.
