Year of New Beer: Double Chocolate Sonata, Clown Shoes (MA)

Written By: Dion on 11/29/2017

Robust nose of milk chocolate, charred malts, bourbon, nuts, and even traces of soy and jerky. On the tongue is an initial wave of chocolate that contains hints of bourbon and caramel sweetness. A light cocoa powder bitterness combines with a campfire char and dark fruit along the mid-palate. A very mild bourbon and oak builds on the finish, but is ultimately swallowed up by milky chocolate. Not quite as much bourbon influence as some Clown Shoes beers, but very enjoyable regardless.
