Year of New Beer: Bourbon Paradise, Prairie Artisan Ales (OK)

Some beers are easy to describe. This is one of them. Luscious chocolate, coconut, and bourbon make up the majority of the nose, with hints of coffee and oak underneath. Transitions seamlessly to the tongue as a sweet coconut and light vanilla are enveloped by rich chocolate. The bourbon influence is evident throughout, but never gets too harsh. Charred oak and dark fruits appear mid-palate, as does a mild, roasty bitterness. The bitterness is short-lived, however, as a sticky sweetness returns on the finish. This is simply outstanding.
