Year of New Beer: Living Proof Rose Wild Red Ale, Country Boy Brewing (Lexington)

I don't know how barrels become "orphaned" or "lost" in a warehouse, but after tasting this, I'm glad that they do. Because their "lost" is our gain. Having missed this last summer in the taproom, I'm happy it's going into bottles for the CBB birthday bash. Wonderfully tart cranberries, apples, grapes, and red wine vinegar on the nose. Musty oak and undercurrents of dark, sweet fruits arrive with warmth. On the tongue, the acetic punch of red wine vinegar is drying to the mouth, warming to allow red berries and traces of caramel to join the oak and spice. Sour but very balanced with the oak character and malt backbone. Some beers don't require a lot of words to describe them. Delicious will suffice. This is a beer worthy of a 6 Year Anniversary Celebration. Well done, gentlemen.
