Year of New Beer: Portal, Bearded Iris Brewing (Nashville)

Less than a week in the can, this is about as fresh as it gets for an out-of-state brewery. Tropical notes of mango and pineapple are backed up by a resinous pine and herbal grassiness. Light bread crust malt with warmth. For me, this one leans less New England IPA and more old-school double. Nice, clean, fruit peel bitterness with a touch of honey sweetness up front. Finishes up slightly dry with more of the pine bite. Very good.
