Year of New Beer: Laid Back Lager, Country Boy Brewing (Lexington)

Like the old saying goes, never judge a book by its cover. The appearance screams light, sweet lager, but the aroma offers the first hint that something is not what it seems. In addition to the smooth, sweet cereal grains, a subtle coffee sneaks in to add some interest. The nose transitions extremely well to the tongue. Just enough earthy coffee roast and nuttiness to offset the traditional lager sweetness. Hints of bread crust and caramel with warmth. Very nice coffee flavor in a light, easy-drinking brew. Well done.
