Year of New Beer: Rum Runner, New Heights Brewing (Nashville)

Written By: Dion on 11/11/2018

Got the beer in but not the review before succumbing to a nasty virus, so this is yesterday's brew. Interesting nose of tart berry, citrus, and Belgian spice. Comes off almost as if it has been aged in oak spirit barrels. On the tongue, blackberry and pineapple arrive first, modestly sour. Belgian influences offer up a slightly sweet malt with a bit of a saison-like peppery note. Still get the oak sensation along with a vinous, wine barrel effect through the finish. This is unusual, but pretty good.
