Year of New Beer: Stout Aged In Bulleit Bourbon Barrel, Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House

Nose starts off with sweet, dark fruits and hints of caramel. Warmth allows for a bit more complexity as chocolate and a bit of barrel char sneak in alongside a building bourbon note. The bourbon is more prominent on the tongue, offering caramel, vanilla, and a touch of oak. Bread crust and a faint earthy hop note hit the middle before giving way to a finish of cola and silky smooth bourbon. Much like regular Guinness, this Antwerpen version is a little thin, but that's a minor complaint. Solid effort, especially for the price.
