Year of New Beer: Chucktown Follicle Brown, Holy City Brewing (Charleston, SC)

The nose features roasted nuts, burnt toast, a bit of caramel, and damp earth. The tastebuds are greeted with a healthy punch of piney hop bitterness that is tempered by some bittersweet chocolate and charred malts. Gets a little bready and sweet with warmth, but still a solid beer. I have no problem with an overly hoppy brown ale. And the guy on the can? That's a real dude. College professor, lost his job over this.
