Year of New Beer: La Mas Negra, Green Man Brewery (Asheville)

The nose is rich with chocolate, coffee, resinous pine, and intense, roasted malts. On the tongue, the Mexican chocolate provides a fleeting sweetness before being cast aside, beaten down by a cascade of heat from the ancho & morita chilies. Traces of dark fruit blend nicely with brown sugar & cinnamon as the beer warms. This paired well with mesquite grilled chicken, and even better with the post-meal s'mores.
