Year of New Beer: Sunday Morning Stout, Weyerbacher Brewing (PA)

Sweet milk chocolate and loads of coffee on the nose, with cursory notes of oak and bourbon. On the tongue, I'm struck by the overall lactose sweetness of this brew. The coffee isn't as prominent on the taste buds, as traces of vanilla seem to tone things down. The bourbon provides a steady heat, but doesn't overpower at all, instead allowing the caramel aspect to take charge. This is very, very good, but I don't think it's quite on the same level as Founders KBS, as has been claimed by many. But it's personal preference, that's what makes craft beer so much fun.
