Year of New Beer: The Truth Imperial IPA, Flying Dog Brewery (MD)

The nose starts off with honey, baked bread, and a bit of chive before warming to a dank, herbal boxwood. On the tongue is a similar experience, with the honey sweetness turning toward candied pineapple and apricot. Mild Graham cracker malts try but cannot balance the hop bite. By mid-palate, the sugars dissipate and sharp, green grasses take hold, with a building, dank bitterness. Overall, not a bad beer.
