Year of New Beer: Poffo Pilsner, Against the Grain Brewery (Louisville)

Probably a little out of season, but I wanted something a little lighter with dinner, and this seemed destined to fit the bill. A tribute to Randy "Macho Man" Savage and the legendary Poffo family, this beer was brewed to put a craft twist on a classic style and make it approachable to an untouched demographic. The nose begins with the expected sweet cereal grains and light, bready malts. On the tongue, the traditional lager aspects are augmented by an unexpected black pepper bite, with a decent amount of grassy hop bitterness. This would be very crushable by the pool if it were to be brewed again.
