Year of New Beer: Citradelic, New Belgium Brewing (CO), and Otra Vez, Sierra Nevada (CA)

Citradelic lives up to its tangerine subtitle, offering a pronounced, juicy aroma that leaps to the taste buds with intensity, backed by a mild malt backbone and building grassy hop bitterness. Not overly complex, but still plenty tasty. The Otra Vez tackles the gose style in an interesting fashion, tossing in cactus and grapefruit. The nose has a vague salinity and a bit of lemon peel. On the tongue is a bit of unexpected sweetness and slight vegetal note. Could stand to be a bit more tart and salty, but will make a good warm weather beer.
