Year of New Beer: Boatswain Double IPA, Rhinelander Brewing (WI)

Picked this up at Trader Joe's for about $2.50, and I'm sure glad I didn't pay more. This is either the worst attempt at a DIPA in brewing history, or it's a cruel joke being played on Trader Joe's by the brewer. It smells more like they were trying to brew some sort of Belgian-sweet and fruity on the nose with not a hop to be found. Things get no better on the tongue, as I'm fairly certain it has been brewed with rotten apricots and peach Jolly Ranchers. And then aged in a wet paper sack. This is vile.
