Year of New Beer: Foret, Brasserie Dupont (Belgium)

This saison boasts a nose that is at the same time spicy and sweet. White pepper initially, but then the fruits come on, most notably apple-much like some of the darker Belgian ales. The taste is a delicate blend of spice, herbs, candied fruits, and a touch of honey. Mild hop bitterness lingers in the background. Very nice. If you are a white wine drinker and think you don't like beer, try a beer in the saison style.
