Year of New Beer: Black Perle, RJ Rockers Brewing (Spartanburg, SC)

This "90 minute Octo-hopped" black IPA boasts rich, charred bread notes along with lots of sweet malts, and a ghostly coffee in the background. Enough hops to present a pleasing bitterness and cover up the 9.5% ABV. Best beer I've had from this brewery.
