Year of New Beer: Red State Taps Flight

#1 (L to R)- A Beer, Against the Grain Brewery (Louisville). A low ABV session pale, this one features a lightly floral hop note with a trace of saltine cracker on the nose. Slightly green, modest hop bite on the tongue. Pretty good. #2 Flanary's Brew, HammerHeart Brewing (MN). Light cocoa powder, smoke, and roasted malts on the nose. Even better on the tongue as the cocoa transitions to a sweeter chocolate, with traces of coffee bean and a persistent light smoke, which perfectly complements the pulled pork. #9 Pick a Penny, West 6th Brewing (Lexington). Vienna Lagers aren't typically my style, but this is very nice with an aroma that is mildly bready and not overly sweet. The taste buds find a crisp, lightly perfumed hop and moderately sweet cereal grain finish. Well done. #10 White Ale, Ethereal Brewing (Lexington). I may have had this one before, but I can't find any notes on it. The nose is full of citrus zest and a light wheat. Similar on the tongue as the orange peel takes hold, balanced nicely by Indian coriander. Very refreshing. Great tap selection today with more excellent beers on deck!
