Year of New Beer (Rnd 2): Belgian Showers, Blue Stallion Brewing (Lexington)

Working off the recipe of my friend Chris Vandergrift, Blue Stallion presents a deceptively smooth brew that was described somewhat accurately to me as "beer candy." The nose is delicately fruity, possibly pear and sweet apple, counterbalanced by a plethora of spices. On the tongue, the fruits carry a candied sugar sweetness, with a touch of white grape. Again, the balance is nearly perfect as clove, coriander, and black pepper stop the sweetness from overpowering. Beer candy indeed. Well done, Blue Stallion.
