Year of New Beer: Castlewood Black IPA, West 6th Brewing (Lexington)

Big grapefruit notes are met head-on by a charred malt that carries hints of smoke and dark chocolate. On the tongue, a citrusy hop bitterness is intertwined with elements of toasted bread crust, coffee, and chocolate. Slightly nutty with an earthy pine as the glass warms. I tend to like these hearty, "burnt" IPAs, and this one is no exception. I'm also loving the variety on the board in the taproom as well. Great job guys!
