Year of New Beer: Trips, Rhinegeist Brewery (Cincinnati)

Sour cherries, lemon peel, green apple and a bit of dusty funk on the nose. The initial hit to the tongue is bracingly tart, as acidic fruits and a red wine vinegar note all but mask a light malt and dry hay. Unfortunately, a mild undercurrent of diacetyl (butter) seems to waft in and out, preventing this from being as good as it could be.
