Year of New Beer: Oud Bruin 2016, New Glarus Brewing (WI)

Sweet fruit juice on the nose, with earthy wood tones and caramel notes that give way to a sharper red wine vinegar with a little warmth. On the tongue, an initially tart fruit quickly subsides yielding a bit of the sweetness that is so prevalent in the New Glarus fruit beers. The caramel and oak keep things a little richer than I was expecting for the style, but overall the beer is still very enjoyable. New Glarus just makes good beers.
