Year of New Beer: Kill All the Golfers, B. Nektar (MI)

For the craft beer fan looking to diversify, meads or honey wines are a pretty natural addition to the drinking repertoire. So today my celebratory beverage takes me to territory that I'm just beginning to explore. The nose is very sweet, with honeysuckle and overall floral tones being joined by a slight tea leaf and almost lemon drop aspect. Very similar on the tongue as the expected honey sweetness dominates. The tea influence is limited, instead giving way to a sugary, lemon syrup effect. While my experience is limited, I have, thanks to some generous friends, had the good fortune of tasting a handful of stellar meads. This is not one of them. Not undrinkable, but just has a bit of an artificial taste to it. Oh well, I bought it primarily for the label anyway.
