Year of New Beer (Rnd 2): Barrel Aged Quad with Currants, West 6th Brewing (Lexington)
Written By: Dion on 09/30/2016
I would be completely remiss if I didn't mention this beer tonight as well. Simply put, it is absolutely amazing. The rich caramel, light chocolate, and hints of raisin associated with the regular quad are all still there on the nose. It's when this nectar hits the tongue that the slight tartness of the currants and a seemingly vinous quality join in, adding another layer to an already stellar beer. At over a year in the barrel, this is not a brew that is duplicated with ease, so I would advise hitting the Barrel Room tomorrow and begging for a taste of what might be left.
