Year of New Beer: Bourbon Barrel Aged Ten Fidy 2016, Oskar Blues Brewery (CO)

Dark fruits, chocolate malt, charred oak, and a vanilla and bourbon sweetness on the nose. All of these elements transfer very well to the tongue, where they are joined by traces of caramel, smoke, and a surprising level of earthy hop bitterness. Bourbon kick picks up as the glass warms. I've always said Ten Fidy is one of the best, readily available imperial stouts. Aging it in a bourbon barrel does not make it suck. I was lucky enough to score 2 of these.
