New Beer Release: Strawberry Ginger Golden Wild, Country Boy Brewing (Lexington, KY)

Cheers to 6 Years! Country Boy Brewing is another year older, and the calendar is full of activities for next weekend's celebration. Tonight I had the pleasure of revisiting the Strawberry Ginger Golden Wild, which makes its bottle debut on Friday. As was the case on draft last spring, the strawberry makes it known from the beginning that it will be the star of the show. The aroma is loaded with tart fruit atop a slightly funky oak. The ginger is initially very subtle, but grows steadily through a warming bottle, combining with the barrel to produce a spicy, almost minty note. The taste buds are treated to a nearly identical trip as the sour strawberry comes out of the gate swinging. Additional punches of acidity are provided by shots that resemble lemon and crabapple. A hint of jammy sweetness is discernible on the mid-palate once the beer gets near room temperature. Again, the ginger seems content to remain in the background. So much funk and wood character in this, especially at those warmer temps. Dry and puckering on the finish. So sour and so tasty. Available in the taproom this Friday, Feb 9th.
