Year of New Beer: Black House, Modern Times Beer (San Diego)

Really nice nose of charred malts, cocoa powder, and lightly roasted coffee bean. On the tongue, the oats give it a smooth, silky texture with a bittersweet chocolate leading the way. The coffee is definitely present, but it doesn't get harsh or overly bitter. Finishes with a subtle sweetness. Great example of a coffee oatmeal stout.
