Year of New Beer: Schnee Boot, Heavy Seas Beer (MD)

Starts with a fairly generic fruit and alcohol on the nose. With warmth, the fruits become more discernible as grape, plum, and raisin. Hints of leather and chocolate. Things are pretty sweet on the tongue, with more grape and a layer of caramel. A little vanilla sneaks in from the barrel aging, and the booze does more than sneak. Pretty hot all the way through. Rich and malty sweet. I don't have much experience with Eisbocks, so who knows, this could be an excellent example of the style. It's interesting, but not one I'd buy again.
