Year of New Beer: Sixfold I: Wild Pale Ale, West 6th Brewing (Lexington)

So apparently this beer has been around for a few years now, but I haven't tried it. Not sure if it has always been the same, but this iteration is Pennyrile Pale ale aged in wine barrels. The nose starts with a tart apple alongside hints of dusty oak and sour white grape. On the tongue, traces of the hop bite found in the base beer are joined by a modestly sour funk that again features a touch of apple with tart berries. Very mild, bready malt underneath. Nothing too complex, but very refreshing and perfect for a ridiculously warm January day.
