Year of New Beer (rnd 2): Living Proof Tamarind, Country Boy Brewing (Lexington)
Written By: Dion on 02/05/2019
Seven days of the week. Seven colors in the rainbow. Seven continents. The number seven carries a lot of meaning, both spiritual and physical. This week, the number seven stands for years. More specifically, the number of years Country Boy Brewing has been in existence.
Saturday sees the release of Living Proof Tamarind. Full disclosure...I've eaten a tamarind once in my life, and I wasn't quite sure how it would work in a beer. In this case, it adds an earthy, dusty, shelled nut aroma to the peach, apricot, and lemon notes of the Golden Wild base. On the tongue, tartness is again the name of the game, albeit not quite to the level of the Elderberry. The mid-palate finds a brief, underlying sweetness that gives this a Sweetart effect. Lots of lemon, peach, and green apple on a sour, dusty finish. Very good. If you are a sour beer fan, these first two days of the 7th Birthday Celebration are going to be right up your alley! Sours not your thing? Don't worry, there's some awesomeness in store for you as well (more on that Thursday night!). Many thanks to the guys at Country Boy for allowing me to preview these delicious brews.
