Year of New Beer: BKS Artisan Ales Flight (Kansas City)

Starting on the left with Counterculture, a New England IPA. Full of fruit juice with a subtle citrus pith and backing dank herbs. Absolutely stellar! Moving right to Holstein, a Mexican coffee milk stout. Beautiful aroma loaded with coffee, cinnamon, and chocolate. Pretty solid. Third was Biere de Ferme, a barrel aged sour with black currant, paw paw, and cherry. Tart, fruity nose leads into a moderately sour taste that features the darker fruits with an undercurrent of oak. Nicely done. Lastly was Vacation Island, or the "Lychee Colada", a Berliner Weisse with lychee, dragon fruit, coconut, pineapple and milk sugar. Screams tropical umbrella drink on the nose as the coconut, pineapple, and lychee really pop. Awesome flavors that straddle sweet/sour perfectly, with a steady coconut that never overpowers. Very different, and very tasty. Awesome spot.
