Year of New Beer: American Beauty, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (DE)

I didn't try this beer the first time it was brewed (2013), so I figured I'd grab one this go 'round. Aroma is reminiscent of older pale ales, leaning malty with caramel and bread crust notes alongside hints of spiced citrus, pine, and honey. On the tongue, this again puts the spotlight on sweeter cereal grains with a soft floral aspect. The fruits are sweeter as well, with traces of grape and apple balancing an earthy hop bite. If I had tasted this blind, I probably would've guessed it a hoppy red ale. Not horrible, but not one I'd buy again.
