Year of New Beer: Lexington Craft Beer Week Brewpalooza

Spent the afternoon in Lex enjoying some amazing brews from three of our awesome breweries. Started at Mirror Twin with Wheezing the Juice, a slushie sour that walked the line between sweet and tart in a most delicious fashion. Moved on to Ethereal for the Trials of the Sun Warrior flight. All were outstanding, but the one that really caught me off guard was Maelstrom, an imperial IPA with Spanish cedar. Nice hop bite with a very light cedar spice, countered by a mild malt sweetness. Excellent. Finished up with my much delayed maiden voyage to Fusion. All of the beers I tried were solid, but I think my favorite was Nebula, a Galaxy hopped IPA. Very nicely balanced bitterness with a subtle malt base. And the space at Fusion is outstanding! A must-visit for summer patio enjoyment. With apologies to Pivot, I've made it out to all the other breweries at least once this week, and I can confidently say, Lexington area beer drinkers are a lucky bunch.
