Year of New Beer: Mill House Brewing Flight (Poughkeepsie, NY)

Couldn't decide on one, so I had tasters of several. Starting on the left is Velvet Panda, a classic American stout loaded with notes of bittersweet chocolate, light coffee, and charred malts. Excellent. Next is Kilt Spinner, a Wee Heavy that checks all the boxes...caramel, toasted bread, and hints of raisin and fig. Third was Led Astray, a really nice IPA that pops with citrus on the nose and tongue, resting on a solid malt backbone. Not overly bitter, but you know the hops are there. Next was Hubar, a double IPA that keeps the alcohol at a modest 7.5%, focusing on grapefruit pith and a resinous bitterness. Lastly was Northwest Territory, an Imperial IPA that nearly gets into a double digit ABV, providing generous amounts of grapefruit and pine alongside a nice honey sweetness ahead of a slightly dry finish. Very good. Added to the flight was an absolutely outstanding meal, so I was a happy camper.
